Overview
The Client
Roman Catholic Diocese of Nelson
The Challenge:
Client needs a new website fast – hosting on their previous platform is going down and they need something as soon as possible. They are also getting a new Bishop, so they will be working on new content during the project.
Outcome: A refreshed design, site using the Edlio CMS for easy updates, and a custom parish map.
Role: Web/UX Designer

Research
The client requested that we skip steps in the usual design process in order to create a site quickly – I usually advise against this, but given my experience with Scholantis at this point, I was confident in my abilities and able to gather the design questionnaire results to quickly turn them into a guideline for the site design.
Questionnaire Results (Simplified):
- Use colours from the Diocese of Nelson crest
- Want a simple site, very little scrolling on the homepage with the Parish map/Mass times and Donations at the forefront
- Content Organization is messy on the current site, need help grouping their pages under correct titles
Since the main contact would be absent for most of this project, I spent a few days tweaking the site and making revisions based on feedback from my coworkers.

Mockups
The client was very happy with the first set of mockups provided and requested very few changes. The stress of having a new Bishop and losing board members meant that the main contact for this project was relying on our expertise. The final result is a well-organized, responsive site that is easy to update.
The final result can be viewed on the Diocese of Nelson website.
